Terpenes VS THC

There is an inverse relationship between terpenes and THC, that is to say, the higher the THC, the lower the terpenes and visa versa. So what is the right balance? That depends on you. Terpenes are more than just the unique smell that cannabis emits. Terpenes are organic hydrocarbons found in most plants. Although not cannabinoids, terpenes do react with our cannabinoid system dictating specific effects depending on their specific profile. That’s why different strains of cannabis with different terpene profiles will produce different effects.

THC is but one of hundreds of cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant and is responsible for the psychoactive effect experienced by users. Although little is known about many of these cannabinoids, what is clear is that they have a complex synergy with each other (including THC) which comprise the entourage effect, meaning together their effect is more significant than the individual cannabinoids would have by themselves.
